Not Enabled Or Reader: His observations are as blunt as a hammer, he is merciless where as many have showed him mercy. It is marked by an emphasis on the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women and the drudgery of work.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. More books by this author. I see this final storm as nothing very special in the sight of the world and it shouldn’t be thought of as special.

I’ve read many of Bukowski’s poems, It wasn’t until I read an entire volume by him that I truly got the bitter dissatisfaction he has with most everything, except cigarettes which are a prominent or passive fixation in his poetry. That bu,owski me is a clean, healthy lungful of fresh air!

His lack of publishing success at this time caused him to give up writing in and spurred a ten-year stint of heavy drinking. Perhaps my favourite charels from his poetry is from his poem entitled “No leaders,please” which discusses the idea of being ever changing in order to “stay out of the clutches of mediocrity”.
That isn’t to say that he doesn’t have a heart or that he’s a bad person.
