I learned through reading several other books on the Battle of the Atlantic that Karl Doenitz was the master naval strategist responsible for creating and implementing the devastatingly effective “Wolf Pack” method of attacking Allied convoys.
The marked inferiority of the German surface fleet left submarine warfare as Germany’s primary naval option once war broke out.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who might be interested in learning more about the Second World War from a forthright and honest German perspective.
