In some cases, your ex will choose someone who is completely opposite of you in every possible way. This is again, very common rebound behavior. Why Do They Do This? The reason behind this behavior is overcompensation. They think that finding someone completely opposite will probably give them happiness.

Someone who is not even compatible with their life goal. Someone who is not even their type. They are not thinking of a long-term relationship.
They are thinking of a short term rebound relationship which will hopefully help them get over the breakup. One of the most common indicators of this behavior is their social media profile Facebook, twitter etc. Of course, this behavior is subjective. You know your ex better than anyone, so you are the best judge if they are doing it to rub it in your face or not.
One of the examples of this social media behavior that I want to share came from one of my readers. She posted on his Facebook wall whether or not he wants to move to Australia with her next year when she wants to do her PhD.
How can she go for some guy who has no plan for his future and could move to another country just like that? She always said she wanted someone who has some goals in life. First of all, which couple discusses big life decision on their Facebook wall?

So it was about 10pm, and as I pulled up to the side of the road about one house down from hers, I saw her I recognized her white hat and I saw her with another guy whom we both knew, but she was good friends with him.
I only met him a few times, but he seemed like a nice guy. They didn't see me though, they were walking in the opposite direction on the sidewalk.

I was pretty devastated. I left my card and gift on her porch and went home. So I confirmed later that night after the new year that she in fact was with that other guy she was good friends with.
I was so heart broken, I cried so much that night and slept on uncomfortable floor. I cried at least once a day for the first 2 weeks after our break up. So we were texting each other one night january 6thand she was saying she misses me, and misses doing things with me such as cuddling and the sort.
And the next day january 7thshe told me that she was now with that new guy whom she was good friends with. After that I made connections in my head, such as; she was pretty close with him for the last month of our relationship. I asked her why she started dating him, and she said that she was super depressed, and near suicidal. Now I was very confused at that point, because I was the one that got dumped, not her.
But I assumed my begging and pleading made her feel very guilty, I did not mean for that! It was just my natural reaction However, so I tried to be her friend, but I always had images in my head of her being with that new guy. And it just hurt, talking to her and imagining that. I still have very strong feelings for her, but in mid february, I started to try NC.
However, I did still talk to her every couple or few days. I knew that wasn't good, because my heart hurt after everytime talking to her, I don't know why.
She never said anything hurtful, just, I just miss her so much. I've never asked her about her new boyfriend. I've been doing quite a bit of reading on the internet, and I know I'm going to focus on myself! So well in fact that he puts all your other boyfriends to shame. The comparison between you and the new guy was just made and you lost. Thus, her chances of going back to you and labeling that new guy a rebound are lowered. Well, when I just generally think of a rebound relationship I think of someone who just got out of a relationship, moves on to someone else really fast and then ends that relationship shortly thereafter.
Notice that I bolded a phrase in the statement above.
One thing is abundantly clear when it comes to your ex girlfriend rebounding, she is going to move on very quickly to someone new. Heck, in some cases she may have already lined up a prospect while the two of you were dating.
Thus, when you are trying to determine if your ex girlfriend is in a rebound relationship you really have to take a look at how fast she moved on to her new relationship. Rebound Sign With This Ingredient If your ex girlfriend moved on very quickly after her relationship with you then you can take that as a rebound sign. For example, if you dated your ex girlfriend for 5 years then her moving on in two months may be considered quick. As a general rule, the longer your relationship with her the more time it will take her to move on.
The numbers on the left show how long you have dated her for and the numbers on the right are indicative of how long it will take her to move on. So, lets take the very first number on the left, 1 month. If you only dated your ex girlfriend for one month then it is probably only going to take her 2 weeks to move on from you. So, to put this table in action you have to use some basic math skills.
Basically you need to determine how long you have dated your ex girlfriend for and how fast it took her to move on.

For example, if you dated your ex girlfriend for over a year and she moved on in 3 weeks then that would be an action that is common for someone who went on the rebound.
Because, it usually takes women three months to properly get over a relationship that is that long. So, what does this mean? Well, it means that in order for them to truly move on from you a certain amount of time has to pass.
Lets take another example from the table graphic I created above. Lets pretend that your ex girlfriend dated you for 3 years and she moved on to someone else an entire year later. Well, if you look at the graphic above you will notice that it should only take her six months to get over you.
So, her moving on a year later would not be indicative of someone who is going on the rebound since enough time has passed for her to properly heal. If you could dream up a nightmare scenario when it comes to your exes rebound relationship it would probably go something like this, Your ex girlfriend breaks up with you and immediately moves on to someone new. Now, you being the incredibly intelligent person you are kind of cheer on the inside for a bit because as you just learned, an ex who moves on fast is typically in a rebound relationship.
In fact, all signs are pointing to the fact that they are stronger than ever. What does it mean if your ex girlfriend starts dating a rebound candidate and they end up together long term? Well, I am sorry to break it to you but if your ex girlfriend dates her new boyfriend for a long time then he is no longer a rebound. Basically, it shows that the longer a rebound candidate dates your ex girlfriend the lower his chances become of him actually being a rebound.
The graph above is meant to show you when this point occurs usually some time after six months. Notice that the longer that your ex girlfriend dates her rebound the less percentage of a rebound he becomes and usually after month six of them dating they begin to get more serious. Of course, the longer she dates him the more likely he is to become a non rebound. I am really sorry to break it to you but this is just the way it works in a relationship.
The longer she dates him the more you start to fade away and the more she begins to view him as her night and shining armor.
